Established in 2022, founder Hannah Flahr created a yoga program for firefighters after being personally stood up by a little black pager.
On a rainy November night Hannah bore witness to a conundrum that many volunteer firefighters fall prey to. Her partner chose to stay home with the pager on, volume up instead of attending a 60 minute yoga class with her. It was in that awkward moment of hesitation that she made a decision. She was going to design a yoga class and call it Pagers & Poses. She would invite firefighters to join with their pagers on, volume up.
Flash forward to 2024, the Pagers & Poses firefighter yoga classes have been validated through research projects in collaboration with Camosun College, lululemon and Well + Why Research Collective. To date RTR has lead over 120 yoga classes to over 120 firefighters in over 12 fire departments.
Committed to our mission, RTR strives to make well-being initiatives more accessible. Our aim is to be a proactive leader in facilitating preventative health initiatives to first responders, families and community allies.
Hannah Flahr is a Yoga Teacher and Clinical Exercise Physiologist with a Master’s Degree in Workplace Health Promotion. Her early research explored physical activity in shift workers and common barriers, and strategies to promote it. Like most creatives, she married seemingly unrelated skill sets together to create Regulate The Responder. An organization committed to bringing yoga programs to firefighters.
